Broadband Speed Test
Welcome to our broadband speed testing page. To use the tester (powered by ADSLGuide.org.uk), you must have Java installed and enabled. If you are experiencing difficulties, please read our troubleshooting section below. Test InformationPlease allow 2 to 3 minutes for the test to complete. In reality, users may find that the test only lasts around 30 seconds - this is usual. Results are logged for statistical purposes and are an indication of your connection speed only. There are issues with some Java implementations which may lead to inconsistent test results such as with some Linux systems. TroubleshootingWe recommend you use the official Sun Java 2 Runtime Environment (J2RE), available for Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Solaris and other operating systems. The Speed Test should load in the box above. If nothing appears, you may not have a Java Virtual Machine installed or correctly configured.
If you receive the message "A connection error occurred while testing. Please try again later.", you may be running a firewall or a network configuration which is preventing the tester from connecting. If your Internet access is restricted via a web proxy server only, you will not be able to run this test. In order for our speed test to work, please ensure than TCP ports 8080 and 8081 are not blocked on your computer or firewall. Rough Speed Guide
NOTE: MaxDSL and 'upto 8Mbps' products may report varied downstream speeds depending on how fast your line can actually connect. Upstream speed may vary with rate adaptation. Other factors may affect the reported speed including ISP network congestion and shared users/programs on your connection. Any results generated are not a guarantee of your true connection speed.
